I`m shy, and I don`t talk too much. I can`t really speak up in an unknown environment. I`m a freshman in high school.

High school? That is to be the best years of your life. So the general public says. I am in my 40's and have a similar problem.
I am divorced and thought I would dte find a new man to maybe fall in love and get married one day. All I have found so far is freeks. So I know well what you mean by are there normal people out there.
do you go to church or youth group? Are your parents ones you can go to and discuss anything in the world with?
If so I would start with mom and dad. Then one of the elders at the church if you attend church. I would go talk to the school guidence counselor.
I have found working with children over the years some of them can be the meanest people on the face of the planet. I was shy
too. After I had been taken advantage of over and over I became more verbal. I grew out of my shyness in order to survive.
please be careful on the internet it can be a very un safe place for grown up and child alike.

Join a club that does something you are interested in. That way you meet people with common interests in a non-threatening environment.

Look for a friend in the hallway that you think would be a nice friend. Then get up the courage and start talking to them.

just be yourself, and don't try to hard....people don't like kiss ups or people that try to hard to fit in....friends will come.
