What is the best place to get a baby's ear pierced? It's $150 at the doctor's office because the use a needle but much cheaper at Walmart. The instruments are sterile and the man is certified. Has anyone taken their baby to Walmart?

I had me daughters ears pierced at 4 months from a local jeweler. As long as the equipment is sterile, and you can observe you should have no problems with WalMart, I know tons of people that have used them. I would make one suggestion, if they can pierce both of her ears at the same time if possible. It's just hard to hold them still while they try to do both separately.

Ditto, don't go anywhere where they use guns. I had a couple sets of earrings done at Claire's, and many more piercings done elsewhere with needles. Guns are traumatic to the surrounding tissue. Generally the piercing studio will include the price of the jewelry in the piercing cost, and the earrings they put in will be higher quality than Walmart. Do you want to have your body modified by a professional body artist, or some minimum-wage kid working retail? O_o As to the pain, it seems like it hurts more the first time because you don't know what to expect. After that you know what it's like so it's less of an ordeal.

I for one use to work at Wal-Mart and pierce baby's ears all the time. It is all sterile and we are trained how to do it. I had both of my daughters ear's pierced at Wal-Mart with no problems. I know alot of people who have taken their children there to get it done.

Going the cheap route sometimes isn't worth it when it comes to your babys' health. Besides she isn't choosing to put a hole in her ear. Go to a professional piercer. Walmart uses piercing guns which cannot be sterilized properly. Your baby can contract Hepatitis B or C. Using the gun is a blunt trauma to the skin which is more prone to infection. Any professional piercer will advise against the gun. Walmart doesn't even have an autoclave. It is a machine that sterilizes all surgical stainless steel tools. Do more research on piercing. I urge you to read sites below especially the last one.
