Well to be fair, to your question, The people of Yahoo answers have understand what country you are asking about. In the USA it is legal to have an abortion, due to the Supreme Court case of Rowe vs Wade. In 1973 abortion is legal in this country. In your country or other countries of the world abortion may not be legalized. Please check the link below and see if that is true.

If you are in a country that it is not legal then the advantages are all pro for the woman that is having the baby. The biggest advantage is that the woman has a right to determine if she wants a baby to grow inside her body for nine months. The conceived baby has no rights due to the fact that the living human that carries the baby is alive and her rights over seed the fetuses. All plus for the women. All negative for the Fetus.

One drawback is the woman has to live with the guilt that she killed a growing life in her body due to what ever selfish feelings the woman has. Rape or the woman's health of course notwithstanding.

One simple thing - REGULATION.

If abortion remains legal, it will be regulated by the government and the AMA (American Medical Association). Making it illegal will drive it underground, allowing anyone to do abortions (picture some guy in an alley with a coat hanger in a dirty room), causing more harm than good. You are not going to stop abortion by making it illegal (drugs is a good example of that), only make it unsafe.

Pro-lifers say they want to save lives - well, they will kill twice as many because not only will the baby be aborted, by the mother will die as well. Is it really worth that much? I think that keeping it legal and allowing pro lifers to educate everyone on why not to get an abortion is a much better option than making it illegal.

Are you blind? It IS legal.

And the advantages are people can end unwanted pregnancies.

If OUR GOD is so loving and kind won't he resurrect all these unborn babes to eternal life? I'm counting on it!!! However, as a Christian I believe abortion is between a woman and her God (or lack of one). : )

Money wouldn't be wasted to help raise unwanted children. The unwanted children wouldn't end up as criminals because no one cares for them.

It can be regulated, ensuring proper medical training and facilities.

If illegal, it will still be performed, just in unsafe and non-sterile settings.
