Writers make books about utopian/anti-utopian societies because it describes the future of man kind.
Ideally man wants to achieve an utopian society like Garden of Eden.
Most of these books were made when communism and totalitarian society existed.

I think that you are referring to novels focusing on Utopian and Dystopia societies. 1984 By George Orwell, The Giver by Lois Lowry, and A Brave New World By Alex Huxley are good examples of novels on these subjects.

Why are they written? They are written as a warning. 1984 was a warning against allowing a totalitarian government. It is frequently referenced in the media today.
