and I am told it's ok to feed them bread with a little mold on it, (I've seen people with gross green bread) Is that Ok? I would think the mold would hurt them.

Bread is the most awful thing that you can feed a bird. While bread is attractive to them, it fills them up without giving them proper nutrition. It has very little nutritional value, and lots of sugar. It is detrimental in large amounts (imagine all the people coming to feed the ducks at the park). A little bread certainly isn't going to hurt them but if they become dependent on bread handouts they will not remain healthy. The waterfowl may even become bloated and sick from too much bread.

Ducks feed naturally on bugs and wild plants only. If you care about waterfowl and other birds stop feeding them and allow them to return to their natural habitats. If you insist on feeding them, go to a local grain store and purchase some cracked corn.

DON'T DO IT!!! The bread mold (aspergillum) will kill them. Muscovy ducks are the most susceptible. The mold can get in their lungs and continue to grow (it's called aspergilliosis), causing a slow and lingering death by asphyxiation.

Any pet store can tell you where to get such things as cracked corn, or other grain foods for them.

Mold won't urt them. Duck and geese eat alot of mold while in the wild and do just fine with it. No worries. Just have fun feeding your ducks! And if you want to see then go crazy wild try feeding them corn (dry or cooked kernels) Good luck

bread is not a recomended foor for ducks . its very bad for them. i cant rember very well but, when i got 3 baby ducklings at a farm i went online 2 see what to feed them and that its really a fatty food for them and since so many ducks are given it they ignore the food that they need to find in the water. also when ducks eat to much bread it can clog up there artorys. also its not visible but they become slow and after eating to much and it become fatel to most or them.

I really would not do that. Mold on bread is one of the most dangerous cancer causing substances. Ducks can get cancer also.

a duck is a living thing. just like you. if you ate a moldy piece of bread, first of all would you ever take bread from that person again? second of all would you eat it or take it? ewww... you would be mad if someone fed you that. plus, mold is mold, if you eat it...it will come back to you.
