I believe styrofore is not biodegradable. What is it made of? It is being used as food containers, insulators, etc. With its many uses, a lot of people and industry are using it causing mountainous accumulation of it. Burnig it is environmentally hazardous. So how should they be disposed?

Gardeners who have soil with a high clay content have found a use for it. Clay soil is very compact and when dry, very hard. Water will not penetrate nor is there much aeration of the soil. By grinding styrofoam into very small pieces (very small!) and tilling it into the soil, it helps prevent soil compaction and helps the soil to retain water for the plants.

There is no good way to do it except by recycling. Hopefully people will stop using Styrofoam so we don't have this problem.
