I am watching Katrina:The Long Road Back on NBC right now.
I CANNOT believe people that suffered. I knew that it was bad but I had NO IDEA that it was SO BAD.
I am just in tears watching this. All these innocent people who died and suffered.
Their is NO EXCUSE for these people having to go through that.
God Bless Them!!!!!

I do agree that people did know ahead of time and should have evacuated.
Had it been my family we would have packed what we could and just headed out. PERIOD!
I still don't think that people deserve it. All the people in the hospitals that couldn't get out. All the innocent children.

Oh the TV version of Katrina.... Blame the government.
I believe that the good citizens of New Orleans were warned several days in advance to get out, they chose not to do so. The good Mayor failed his city, the good Governor failed her citizens.
It is horrible the things that happened, but I can tell you that the National Guard responded and helped, only to be shot at by the people they were trying to help there in New Orleans.
Over in Mississippi, where I assisted in the recovery efforts for over 7 weeks, the people were wonderful considering their misfortune. I just returned from Gulf Port this afternoon, and I can tell you that Mississippi is not sitting back wondering why the government hasn't helped, they are taking the bull by the horns and rolling up their sleeves.

Well...I don't mean to sound mean, but I have a hard time being sympathetic. Those people knew there was a hurricane a coming, but they decided to stay home and ride it out instead of evacuating. If you live along the coast, common sense tells you that hurricanes will occur there at some point. The only people I really have sympathy for is the people that had no way of leaving their homes.

No and it wouldn't have been AS bad if they had listened to the info about the levies long before Katrina. They knew the levies could break but did absolutley nothing about it.

To answer your question...Where did my taxes go?...they are in Iraq.
Not sure what video you saw but did you know dozens of women were raped in the dome...people saw it and could do nothing because they were in their own suffering...a true hell the super dome was. I think surviving this event in the dome is worse than death itself. Imangine the images stuck in their heads for the rest of their life. A lifelong trauma.

I think the people of New Orleans should try and help themselves rather than expect the government to shoulder everything.I'm sick of Katrina "victims".It's time for them to quit being victims and do something to help themselves.

It's ok...you don't have to cry for us anymore....we will be back stronger than ever! Please know that people here are so tough and we are working together to make it and rebuild. And thanks to the people who came to our aid, it's moving right along!
