Katrina was the worst hurricane in history that ever hit land in the United States. It was a terrible tragedy and will not be forgotten. But, enough already. A year has past. I am not looking lightly on this terrible act of nature, but why isn't acceptance of this disaster possible without continually pointing fingers, blaming sources and of course, drawing that race card.
Yes, enough. There were so many people who gave so much to help all in need - black or white. And, response - what kind of response was everyone waiting for? It was a disaster of unimaginable destruction. Who could possibly be prepared for such a thing? Yet, here we are still babbling on about who, why, how come, what could have been, white people, black people, rich and poor.
Peace and prayers to all the people and their families that suffered a loss in Katrina. Their pain is heartfelt.
Some things we just don't have control over - this was one.

You must not be from New Orleans! Ha Ha Ha.
They are the only ones blaming, seems they refuse to accept their own personal responsibility for assisting themselves.
We here in Mississippi we greatly affected, although according to the media it was all about New Orleans.
We have made great progress over the past year, there is still a long way to go, but with patience and perserverance we will arrive.
Some news is necessary to keep our struggles in the forfront of the politicians mind, so they will not forget to fund the many programs needed to pull us through.
I do take it from your question that you only experienced a minor inconvienence from Katrina, and for that I am thankful, but please keep in mind that thousands of people lost everything and are struggling to press on.

We here in Katrina Land are sick of it too. We are sick of the way the insurance companies turned their collective backs on
their customers. We are sick of all the regulations that have been
spawned from that storm. We miss our way of live. We have a real health emergency down here. The storm cost us some surgeons. There aren't enough now and the ones that are here
are spread really thin. People could die waiting for surgery.
That is what we have to live with. When Katrina left, prices did not
come down. Food cost money, clothes cost money, gas really cost money. We still have to buy prescriptions and that takes
money. Landlords are kicking tenants out so they can charge more rent. Contractors are scamming people, and other scam artists are coming here to continue to victimize people. We
appreciate all the people who have put their lives on hold to
come and help us. We still have a long way to go and we still need help to get back. Thanks for looking our way. From
Mississippi.

The problem is that the response was not only inadequate from the outset, but also it continues to be a problem. Now we are once again in hurrican season and everyone is concerned both at the possibility of more problems as well as the lingering effects of Katrina. And if you think about how the media works, fear is a best seller.

Just wonder how you would feel about floating on an icechest in salt water for 6 hours while you watch everything you own destroyed? We're tired of the government saying how tragic it is and doing so little about it. MS Gulf Coast is still needing alot of help; N.O. is still fighting over the money. So when 9/11 comes, why don't you write a nice little questions like this one. I'm sure it will please alot of people to know you have no compassion for any of your fellow Americans!

You would feel differently if you lived in the Gulf Coast area.
There is still a lot of suffering and damage. We need to be reminded of that. We go on with our lives and forget that others still need our help.
You may be tired of hearing about it and seeing it on t.v., but these are American citizens. They deserve help and kindness.
True we didn't have any control over the storm, but we have control over how the rescue and restoration process is done.

I'm tired of the corporate media asking ALL the wrong Questions about Katrina, and only talking about it when they need to drown out a MORE IMPORTANT story.
The news media is pathetic.

Me, too! I've been thru 3 major hurricanes, "Frances", "Jeanne" and "Elena". Now I'm looking at "Ernesto".
Not our fault the government hasn't taken care of the people affected by "Katrina". They haven't taken care of all the people affected by "Charley", 2 years ago.
Enough already.

I'm tired of hearing about it too. Hopefully those people have learned their lesson and will stay away from the coast. Living in New Orleans was an accident waiting to happen.
