The countertop is in the kitchen. And thanks for all the advice going out today and trying some suggested things.

Any hardware store will have rust removers. You might get a light stain out with home remedies, like tartar and vinegar paste, but for a tough stain you need the harsher chemicals. Naval jelly is one of them.

Get wink rust remover its the best and you can buy it at a larger grocery store and try Walmarts.. You didn`t say what kind of countertop..

Water. The same thing that causes it in the first place. It'll dissolve the oxidized part just wipe off and dry carefully.

KBS makes a product called AquaKlean that works very well for getting stains out. Check it out: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/AquaKlean-C32.aspx
It will get the stains out. Just make sure you wear gloves when you use it.

metal, formica or even ceramic....a paste of baking soda rubbed in good and rinsed good. You may have to do it twice but it is the cheapest and best way to go.
