Are jake breaking systems on vehicles legal in the state of Ohio?

I am not aware of state they are illegal. There are however city ordinances that prohibit the use of them in residential areas. There are signs posted along the roadway that identify such areas.

there are quiet areas that are usually posted prohibiting jakes - it is not a stateiwde law - most areas are residential 2 lanes

if you drive a big truck like an 18 wheeler you can only use them in certain parts of the state but they are legal

yes, they are legal, and as far as the residental thing it's more a common curtusy. I grew up in Ohio and never heard of any uses being enforced.

You can have it-you just can't use it.

They should be outlawed in Ohio on all streets with houses on them.
