I've been seeing all these questions about girls being pregnant and not knowing what to do. It sounds like most of these girls didn't want to get pregnant so I was just curious why they didn't get birth control? I know alot of people don't wear condoms but you should at least protect yourself against pregnancy if you don't want a child. I couldn't afford birth control so I went to the county health department. That's where I've gotten my birth control for the last three years and guess how much money I've paid? Not a dime! They can't turn you away for failure to pay. Not at the health department. It just irks me that so many girls have not taken the responsibility to get birth control if they didn't want a kid in the first place!

Most probably just don't know how to get it. They probably think that the parents would have to be informed and they don't want that. Some are just thinking it won't happen to them cuz "they pull out". Some actually think they are ready for a kid and when it happens - it's like OMG! Some are just too immature to know how to take care of themselves. Some just don't like the side effect. Some use it and it don't work. Some that smoke won't take them cuz they are already hooked on the smoking and the risks of getting blood clots increases with smoking but it's usually for women over the age of 35 (they don't know that). Others just don't know that there are other forms of birth controls that don't involve pills....hormones...etc.
You did what you had to do to take care of yourself and that's really good. Others are just ignorant or just don't give a s***!
I used birthcontrol since I was 15 and got pregnant at 17 - it just happened. I don't regret my kids... they are the best thing that have ever happened to me.
A lot of girls now a days think that cuz so and so had a baby at such young age and their kid is well taken care of etc... that it is easy.. but it's not. That is just plain ignorance.
There are a lot of reason why girls don't use birth control or don't use it properly. It just pisses me off when they don't even try.

I think a lot of it has to deal with the "I dont care right now" and "it won't ever happen to me" thinking. I was on and off of birth control but had problems with it and I was 17 when I got pregnant. We used condoms but it broke and now I've got my son (which I couldn't be happier with). After my son I tried three different kids of birth control and well, had more problems with them. I'm married now and pregnant with my second child but I managed to stay pregnant free for almost 4 years (that's how old my son will be next week). These young girls don't care enough to know and understand their cycles. When you're young you just don't. I don't understand why they aren't using condoms though..even though my son was a result of a broken condom I still used one every time until I got married. With all of the STD's and AIDS I'm suprised these people aren't using them. That's what I don't get. I think a reason girls don't get birth control is they don't want to tell their parents or go to the dr because then their parents will find out and they are perhaps scared to go to clinics...but I think it ultimately goes back to the "it won't happen to me" thinking. I donno.....

My mother always told me as far back as I can remember that birth control is 100% the responsibility of the girl, she burned it into my brain. Girls these days have no respect for themselves, are lazy and many don't have fathers at home to kick their butts. What really gets me is all the teen girls that will suck on a urine dripped penis in the school bathroom. I have 3 teen boys, I know from washing 5000+ loads of laundry that teen boys can't wipe their butts worth a damn, what makes these girls think their penis will be any cleaner? Makes me want to vomit. I won't even bore you with the AIDS statics from oral sex.

Some girls aren't educated enough to know to take birth control. In George Bush's pet Abstinence Only sex ed, birth control cannot be mentioned by teachers or they could be fired.

More gals should be willing to take the responsiblity you did - and there's really no excuse not to, when it's available for free or next to free.
Laziness, apathy, and the feeling they need a baby that will love them back - those would be the reasons I think many go without.

Many youths fear someone will find out or see them at those places and word will get back to their parents, bottom line is it' s caused by failure of parents to communicate with their kids, then they blame the kid. also alot of people dont want ot be associted with free programs because of the stereo type of those on free programs.

I think there are several reasons why. For one, they dont have the resources, for 2, they might be embarassed/afraid their parents might find out, 3rd reason is that I know alot of girls who believe the myths that the pill will make them fat, etc. I guess if I had to choose one answer it would be ignorance.

Because they are naive idiots that don't use birth control because they're 14 and want to f**king smoke, and think it's not going to happen to them if they just ignore it. Then when it does they rattle off the whole 'Oh, the world HATES me, boo hoo I'm so unlucky..' crap.

Some of these girls want someone to love them and they will do anything to get love. What they are really getting is sex not love.
Some girls think that pregnacy will allow them to get their own apartment away from their parents. Some think it will force their boyfriend to marry them.
Some girls just don't think of the consequences.
Some girls are raped or forced to have sex.
