Suppose you need to measure exactly 1 cup of water. All that you have in your kitchin are two containers. The smaller container holds 3 cups and the larger holds 5 cups of water. How can you use these containers to measure exactly 1 cup of water?
(Don't say just measure out 1 cup of water with one of the containers...)
Thx for your help everyone ^^

Fill up the 3 cup measure.
Transfer over to the 5 cup. ( got 3 cups in the 5 cup )
Fillup the 3 cup again, &transfer over to the 5 cup but only 2 of the 3 cups will fit, leaving 1 cup in the 3 cup measure.

1. Fill up 5 cup container.
2. Pour 3 cups out of the 5 cup container and fill up the 3 cup container.
3. Empty the 5 cup container(2 cups).
4. Empty the 3 cup container into the 5 cup container leaving 3 cups in the 5 cup container.
5. Refill the 3 cup container then pour 2 cups into the 5 cup container leaving 1 cup in the 3 cup container.

Not too hard. Fill up the small container, and empty it into the larger one. Then fill up the smaller container again, and then pour watre from the smaller into the larger until the larger is precisely filled. One cup of water will remain in the smaller container. (2 * 3) - 5 = 1.

AAAGH! this was in die hard with a vengance...
what did they do...
you fill up the 3 cup, put it in the 5 cup, do it again, and when the 5 is completely full, that's 1 cup in the 3 cup container.
