Well there are Christian churches primarily in the Appalachian Mountain region in the US that part of their church service is snake-handling. There is a bible passage that says vipers will bite and their poison will not harm if you have belief. So they handle venomous snakes and if they get bit and die they say taht person did not have faith in Christ.

I have been into snake worshiping around the time I discovered boobies.
