Joining a statehood has no disadvantages,but you have many advantages.You and your interest will be protected by the state.
You pay taxes for the state but you receive much benefit by the state spending for public interest such as public roads,harbour
,security, ,hospitals,schools etc

Are we talking about statehood in the United States? If so, then yes....

Protectorates like Puerto Rico enjoy a fun tax-free status while retaining rights as American citizens. They're protected by our armed forces, but they don't have to monetarily support our government through taxes... on the other hand, they can't vote. It's still a pretty good deal.
