what affects can this have on the baby at this stage in the pregnancy or should I have an abortion? Wanting this child is already a question besides the fact I drank and smoke the last 3 months!?!?

I barely drink since I work so much and smoking ciggarettes was something I have done for a few years now. I have recently stopped since I found out I was pregnet but my question was referring to me not knowing I was pregnant til so much later and how doing any of this could affect the baby. I also have a boyfriend I live with who doesnt want it although we miscarried 6 months ago and we were both devestated by it. I wasnt suppose to be able to get pregnant thats how I didnt know.

Lord, child. Get thee to a doctor or midwife and talk to them and get facts. Get off of Yahoo Answers. Whether you want the baby or not, you need to put the baby' s needs ahead of your own. And don't kill your baby. If you aren't able to put a child's needs ahead of your own at this point in your life, and you don't sound like you are, consider adoption. Give your child the greatest gift you can....LIFE! You can make it through the next 6 months. Good luck. And sweetie, no one will blame you for not being able to raise your baby.

Don't think about aborting this child just because you've been drinking and smoking the last three months. Now that you know you're pregnant, stop drinking and smoking. It's not too late to make sure you give this child the healthiest start possible. Drinking and smoking doesn't mean that your child will for sure be born with deficiencies, or health problems, especially if you did both of these things in moderation. What is important is how you take care of yourself from here forward. Whether you decide to abort this child is your personal decision, but don't let the fact that you weren't prepared for this child in the first trimester alter your decision. I'm impressed that you are aware of the fact that you should not be drinking and smoking while pregnant, many unfit parents do not care to change their behavior in the best interest of thier child. Congratulations!

Been drinking and smoking for past 3 months shouldn't be much of problem. In fact it seem that you are not sure want to keep the baby or not....having a baby is a long term responsibility and love, drinking and smoking shouldn't be the issue.

Stop drinking and smoking NOW. You could be lucky and the baby could be just fine or there could be some problems. Look it up on the web...the effects of alcohol and smoking on an unborn child. Talk to your doctor about it also. I'm sure they can tell you all the risks involved in doing those things during pregnancy. Best of luck to you and your baby.

Go to a pregnancy crisis center - consider all your options - think very strongly before you consider an abortion - it is mentally, physically, and a lifetime changing event that cannot be reversed. The amount of alcohol and smoking at this point should not be a burdening factor to the baby, especially if you stop. I have known women who did not ever stop and their children were fine, but it is a high risk to do this. Seek advice - professional advice.

Talk to a Dr, even one at a free clinic. I know that they say when you find out you are pregnant, stop, and if you have a few times before you knew, it is not usually damaging. But I am talking a few weeks in, you are a few months in so I don't know. If you are undecided about even having the baby you really should talk to someone who can offer you some options. Best to be informed before making a desision that can alter the course of your life. Take care of yourself!

first of all let me say congrats to you mommy and daddy i am no-expert but i am also 20 and i gave a 17 month old son. let me tell you i was smoking and drinking too not only cigarettes but weed i hate to say but glad to admit that's all in my past.
i don't know if you believe in god but he sent this child you there is never a mistake or slip or broken condom even. you shouldn't say the "A" word consider that fact that you are not alone. i had my son and i love him more than the world or anything in it. and you should consider ADOPTION which i never did instead of ABORTION if your not ready for the baby some else is. i hope you don't blow me off and well consider me as a fellow mother in your age i had my son @19

the risks of anything being wrong are low. i did the same thing. i didn't know i was pregnant for the first month. as long as you aren;t doing it now. abortion now would be really bad. you are in your second trimester and they would have to tear the baby into pieces to get it out. just something to think about. you might want to think about adoption.
