It is a graphing method that makes use of thick solid lines to represent the item being graphed. They grow up from the bottom of the chart and the top edge is interpreted by going over to the left side of the graph to read the digits. It is pretty easy to read at a quick glance.

It's a way to convert numbers representing a usage into a visual form. Let's say you're a corporation and what to find out how mu profit/loss you've been making within six months. Useing Excel, you can make a graph using the data that you were given or researched. Same thing can be made for school grades, averages, attendance,etc. Very widely used as a powerfull tool to make visual representations.

well ever seen people of different height stand in line

( like in a grocery srtore, bus line or at any place )

then the ground being a given level ( say 1 or ZEro)

then each person height represents how far the head is from the level

that is what a bar graph is
