I recently moved to Denver, CO and I am looking for an entry level IT position (tech support, helpdesk, pc support/assembly). What comanies should I contact and how in order to get a position like this?

check the following:
craigslist.org (select colorado on the side and chose denver/boulder region)
simplyhired.com
indeed.com
also worth doing is getting set up on linkedin.com and establishing your network. you never know who knows someone who can help you out.
as far as getting in front of them, the best bet is using someone who works within the company to recommend you (hence why linkedin.com is so good). short of that, i'd write yourself a cover letter explaining your relevant experience, desire to work for the company and what makes you unique. attach that to a resume and send it off to the hr person at the company (never send to a jobs alias - more often than not it's a blackhole. call the company to find out the name and email of the hiring manager).

look through the phone book for larger companies in the area, especially banks/credit unions with large offices
