I own a 1997 Kia Sportage and today I've discovered some trouble going on. The engine throttle sounds different than usual. There is no evidence of any leakage anywhere...in fact, all of the fluids are fine. I just got the oil changed two weeks ago. Besides the engine throttle, the car is not going up to a decent speed when I step on the gas, especially if I'm going uphill. I'm not sure whether my rpm is higher than normal because when I drove it with this problem, I was checking the temperature to make sure that my engine doesn't overheat, which it didn't. I'm guessing something is wrong with my automatic transmission, but I can't make sure. I drive this thing every day from work (I put almost 150 miles per day on it) and currently there are about 118500 miles on the engine. I stopped at the rest area and let it sit idle for a few minutes. When I got back on the road, it drove much better than before, but it still had trouble going uphill like before.

Also, although I had the air conditioning on in the foot area as well as towards my face, I only felt the cool air from top -- the bottom of the car felt warmer than usual. And when I touched the area under the driver's seat, I kind of felt some weak electric flow in my hand. I don't know if it was real because I was very nervous and I had at least 30 miles left to get home.

sorry to say but your kia is probobly about to reach the end of its life cars like kia's and hyundias seem like a good idea to buy there cheap and nice buttt..... there cheap for a reason its how there made there made very weak and they offer little protection in a crash and dont last as long as a normal car. I would suggest buying a more expensive car in upwards of $25,000 new if you want a well made car and if you cant affor it buy a used car that used to be expensive so you get a well amde car that will last a long time.

Change your catalytic converter. Its clogged. The catalyst inside broke apart and your causing back pressure to your motor.
Its the same as running a marathon with a sock in your mouth.

Well get an exhaust pressure check done to verify it is a catalytic convertor. anything over 1psi is bad. and with 118k on the odometer, this is what i would do first
