OK, here goes....... I have four children, and I've found the best way to help that baby come sooner is semen. I know, it sounds strange, but it works. The semen helps to soften the cervix, which in turn, helps aid in the beginning stages of labor. I wish you the best of luck!

The doc says you need to be induced?
Stay away from the "oils," and any other drugs. Orgasm and nipple stimulation will help, but avoid intercourse if you've been told to. Has the doc offered to "strip the membranes?" Although some look down upon it, it's rather a safer way to induce labor than some drugs, though not as reliable.
But please, if they want to insert a pill vaginally, fight like hell. I don't have the name of it, and perhaps they aren't using it anymore, but it is NOT the best plan by a long shot! Find out HOW they intend to induce, and do your research before agreeing, please.
And best of wishes for your labor, delivery, and, of course, your new family member and you!

Not cod liver oil it is Castor oil ,small I think 4 oz. bottle with orange juice, but it will sink to the bottom. My friend had, years ago, a doctor that had been working on a Indian Reservation, old ways, anyway to make a long story short. He told her to go home and drink it with orange juice, she took it at 5 pm and had the baby by 1 am. It makes your bowels move and move, this will cause you to start contraction. Worked for her. Also having sex might start it but you have to have a organism, not just the man, when you do it starts the contractions, or so they say. Good luck and con-grads on your baby.

According to La Leche League when I was pregnant, using a breast pump was an ignorant idea. That kind of stimulation does help you produce oxytocin which helps the labor process but according to breastfeeding experts, it can also affect your incoming milk supply and colostrum. It isn't sex that helps it along, it is semen that can help so trying to have sex for hours on end doesn't help, it just tires you. But you can find just as many studies that say it is the orgasm that speeds along labor and just as many studies say that none of this has been medically proven. Any other "natural" method is hog wash. You will go into labor when your body is ready.

Use your breast pump for an hour or so for a day or two.
If the baby hasnt released the hormones to induce labor then you wont get hardly anything, and it wont take away from the colostrum that he needs at birth, since it doesnt really drop until after labor.
It works like magic.

I reccommend not trying to induce labor at home, leave it to the professionals...pitocin is what they will most likely use. This drug isn't bad for you or the baby, so I would wait and see what they do....inducing yourself can be dangerous...but if you insist...sex, lots of walking (nipple stimulation can take weeks to do anything--What to Expect When You're Expecting) so take it easy and don't do anything without consulting your doctor.

I've heard having sex or taking a walk helps. Or eating beets(don't know why). I don't know much about inducing, because both of my little ones came early. Congratulations on your upcoming(hopefully soon!) little one!
