It is a complex game, with rules that require lots of training an experience.
Most of the time, those rules are applied fairly, so it all comes down to your (attorney's) skill and ability to play the game.

the justice system is not fair, then again nothing in society is. It is best to take this out of your vocab.

No, its not fair, justice costs money. But, its still the best in the world. Not sure if that says anything or not.
Our laws seem to protect the guilty and do nothing for the average law abiding tax paying citizen.
