Is that what you really want? Or is it a passing phase? Consider this as well. Does he reciprocate your feelings for him, because it is quite dangerous territory you're heading to. If he is loyal to your best friend, you're in a lose-lose situation. No best friend and no boyfriend. But in the end of the day , you have the most knowledge on this, no-one here can make this decision for you.

I have to sympathize with lazy thinkers, but.... As long as you know the difference between feeling an emotion and loyalty, no problem. We know the rule for persistence over the temporary; it is reputation, ego ideal, morality.
