supposing it was post nuclear or you were just stranded somewhere and wanted to make metal parts. Arrowheads or fishhooks or a knife or an ax.

OK, assuming you have done your market research and product analysis you have decided to make metal arrow heads.

1: find a source of ore.
A metal ore is an area of rock or compacted material where the concentration of the metal is high enough to be commercially viable.
A good ore to look for is Copper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chalcocite
or iron
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematite

2: Process the ore
this generally means crushing it up alot.

3: Heat the ore until the metal liquefies.
This is tricky and you need to have both somewhere to put the ore while it is being heated and a good source of heat. A good charcoal furnace would do.

4: Place in mold and wait to cool.

By mixing ores different alloys can be created like Bronze and Steel.

Good luck !

find some ore and melt it like the ancients did...copper and bronze tools were first..Iron ore can also be melted if you can build a forge or furnace hot enough
