supposedly the human brain is only using some small portion of itself; and the subconscious supposedly mostly unexplored so if you fall asleep with that kind of brain it makes sense you could create a whole complex world while sleeping, and stay asleep a long time

What you are describing happened to me while I spent six weeks in a coma and on life support in 1998, two weeks of which I ran a 105.5 fever.

Everything was very real. I,
Traveled in space and time;
Road on the Orient Express, while reading a book;
Fought crime lords, repeatedly;
Had way too much sex;
Met leprechauns;
Drove my taxi with Kathy Lee in the back;
Donated millions to community projects;
Visited a cloning facility;
But, the strangest thing of all was that I volunteered for the HIV vaccination project. Why this was interesting is that two weeks after I woke up, they announced just such a program on the news, though it turned out to be a failure.

By the way, people don't just wake up and start talking and moving around. It took me over a week to communicate, and three months to learn how to walk and use my hands, though that may have been a result of the high fever.

Since then, my dreams are always very detailed, and I remember every detail. When I woke from the coma, I could not tell the difference between the dream and reality.

I am NOT asleep so you are not either. I am reading your question. Unless my answer part of the dream?

I agree. I also agree that dreams can be visiting past lives. I love the dreams I have. They are awesome.

You're not the first to contimplate this. Jump off a bridge if you think you're dreaming, if you start to fly, you are right. If you die, well...guess you'll be sleeping forever.
