What did you ask? I feel you are not telling us the whole story.

Ask yourself a few questions:
1. Are you asking questions that are off topic?
2. Do you constantly try to gain attention?
3. Did you forget to try to answer the question yourself before you ask your teacher?
4. Are you using questions to disrupt the teaching or be disrespectfully of the teacher?
If you answered "NO" to these questions you may have a complaint against the teacher. But be honest. Did the teacher say you were an "idiot" or did the teacher say something different? In a noisy classroom it is easy to not hear accurately what the teacher says.
Also remember that teachers are human beings and make mistakes. Sometimes they have difficult days and you shouldn't be looking for things to make their work more difficult. No, the teacher should not have called you an "idiot", even if you are one. But that is no reason to try to harm the teacher.

well teachers do that from time to time wen they get really annoyed with the class or the student. it depends on wat question u asked. mayb it was too simple that it seemed stupid to her.
but she is ur teacher, and therefore is older than u and wiser, so u should hav respect for her. dont say or do nething u may regret to her.
i dont understand all u ppl who say that he should report her. my mom is a teacher so i know how much bull they hav to put up with in classes. they r older than u and hav authority over u, therefore u should respect them. i'm an A-student, and sometimes i do ask stupid questions and they point it out. even if they say it in a way that sounds disrespectful, that shouldnt matter to me, bcuz i must hav respect for them and try to understand how much pressure they're under wen a large class of kids keeps on asking them dumb questions. u can go to the techer and say in a respectful manner that u didnt appreciate the way that she answered u. i'm sure she'll understand if u do that.
and if that doesnt work, then get over it, she has authority over u, not the other way around. but if she does it constantly and it seems like she picks on u in class, then u should report it.
i dont know if reporting a teacher every time they tell u shut up or ur an idiot once, is how ur sugar coated system works over there, but not where i come from. kids should hav respect for authority. not saying that teachers should pick on students but if she said ur an idiot once u shoudlnt take it so personally. and its perfectly normal, teachers r under lots of stress and they might just be frustrated and u get caught in the line of fire. take wat i said, just approach her kindly and i'm sure everything will work out.

Tell your mother/father or your principal--that is unacceptable behavior for a teacher. Also don't listen to her-its better to ask a question then to sit in silence and be confused. Some studies show that for each question a student asks there are three other kids in the classroom with the same question.
Good luck!

Listen to the posters who tell you to report it to the school administrator, the principle, and your parents.
That teacher was WAY out of her boundaries! Even if the student WAS acting out, she has no right to call anyone an idiot, and instead of saying "shut up, she should say "quiet", or "silent".
But go ahead and report her.

Yes, she is doing a fabulous job. If you really are an idiot, she's not sugar coating it and giving you a false hope, so when you are older you'll fit into your rightful position in society at the local Jack in The Box.

You said you asked a simple question, what was it. And are you sure it was the teacher? Because I feel like you're lying.

I remember a teacher doing that to me when I was little. She was totally out of line and I have never been an idiot. She was wrong. Tell your parents and report her. She owes you and apology.

Your teacher needs to get help. A teacher I had said something like that, before you report her try to get some proof.
