It can go either way. If you believe in creationism then the chicken came first because God created the animals. If you believe in evolution the egg came first because it is a single embryo. This is why no one has an answer to the question because creationism vs. darwinism is an emotional debate for many people.

In the Bible it says that God created creature and then man. So the answer to the question would be the chicken sence it never said that he created eggs . Hope that this helps ya out .
