Yes, it is possible for both of you to be on the Internet at the same time. The application is install-ready in your computer's operating system. At the Windows desktop, go to Start > Control Settings > Add/Remove Programs > click "Windows Setup" tab > double-click "Communications" > scroll 'til you see "Internet Connection Sharing" and check it.
Sometimes it will not work; the server’s identifying two connections on one line or location is the cause of the reason. Though, if it does work, both connections will run excruciatingly slower than normal.
If all else fails, you do need to buy a WiFi router if you both want use the Internet at the same time.

if you have dial up internet the answer is no... basically you would need a router or switch to accomplish this on a higher speed connection (dial up is too slow to be worth splitting the signal). so yes, you COULD both be on at the same time assuming you have a router/switch and you're not on dial up

if you ARE on dial up, you can't connect at the same time for the same reason you can't make two phone calls through the same line at the same time. when one signal is passing through it seazes the line, blocking other signals out.

depends on how you are connected. you could simply invest in a router. it's fairly cheap and you can both surf at the same time
