Dan is a liar. The Fair tax is a joke that the rich would like to play on the less fortunate.

The prebate is a joke that will allow for politicians to manipulate the markets for goods and services provided by their constituents. The prebate will have more to do with back-room favors than with cost of living.

Dan, I don't lean against the Republicans and the Rich. I lean against people that lie openly and out right in a public forum. I can't help it if they happen to fall in one category or another.

I think I took this test, let's see: oh yes - Question #7 What is the most fair, responsible, and reasonable alternative to the federal income tax?

The Answer of course is the FairTax!

I thought this would be the best way to answer to your points in my two questions. I wouldn't have bothered but you took the time to answer me twice, so I thought responding would be the right thing to do. It turns out that your math was miscalculated. The FairTax includes a prebate that provides the amount of money that a person would spend in basic cost of living back to each person. The congressman behind the FairTax and his team crunched the numbers and figured how much that prebate should be for one person to afford the tax on the food, drink, clothing, and other basic needs a person needs to live, then set the percentage on the FairTax (23%) to correspond to the prebate and still ensure that the Fairtax would bring in the same revenue as the current system. So, with some responsible spending practices, even those in the most poor classes would spend nothing in tax and may even make money on the deal by finding extra ways to cut corners.

The rich on the other hand cannot possibly make a living in this way. They didn't get into their positions by buying only for their basic needs. They need to impress clients and associates with Armani suits, Rolex watches, and elaborate parties. Their expenses would constantly support the government. Plus, visitors from foriegn lands who are rich enough to visit our country would also be paying into our gov't's revenue (which they don't today) because every consumer pays the tax.

I see from your questions and answers that you lean against the Republicans and the rich and what better way to get back at them by instituting the FairTax? Check out FairTax.org if you think I'm wrong. What could it hurt?
