My wife thinks its too harsh to use a whip on the kid what do u think?

A whip like a horse whip, bull whip? Ya that's WAY to harsh but to give them a good whack when they have it coming may piss off a lot of time out kind of people but if you ask me it never hurt me any.

When I was growing up if I screwed up and that was often my dd would crack that belt out and believe me what ever the sin, it didn't happen again. There were no horrible kids like there are today when I was growing up. But then again that was in the 70's and getting your legs strapped was not offensive to anyone.

These new parents want kids to be put in time out. Time out? Ya, that's why the juvenile crime rate has went up 300% since the 70's. Kids have no respect for anyone or anything, including their parents.

The other day I was at Walmart and there was this chick with 4 or 5 year old kid. He wanted a toy she told him no and not only did he throw a fit that would have got my butt kicked, and I most certainly would have kicked my kids butt over he then spat on her. She told him "Jaboc be nice to Mommy or I will put you in time out" I walked by her and gave her a look like she was out of her mind. Jaboc need a swat on the ***.

Your wife is right a whip is to harsh to tell and teach you kids right and wrong. Whips are not meant for that. Use time out or naughty room for young ones don't give them what they want.

Well I dont know if you were whipped as a child but my assumption is that it is not the best form of punishment unless the kid is 6'4 and weighs more than you lol. If not there is no reason to whip a child there are things in a house called corners that works alot better believe me.

i never used an implement because I think it should cause me physical pain as well. not out of some sick pain pleasure thing, but i knew how hard I had smacked my child.
Now, as my children are older, I do not smack. It is illegal now to leave a mark (we are in UK). I find that disappointment in their actions and a time-out are far more effective tools of discipline.
BTW - in the UK, you would be arrested for using a whip on your children.
Try giving time as a reward for good behaviour. Rewarding good is far more effective at preventing rather than punishing bad.

Depends on what kind of kid your talking about. If your talking about a goat then i don't think it really matters. A kid though is a different story. Granit I'm only 15 years old but i only got whippons with a belt. never a whip. Kids in my grade that got a worst form of punishment like ABUSE or getting locked in a closet usually turn out to be social outcast. It really all just depends on what you want for your kid though i agree with your wife and encourage you to to.

if i was your wife id wait until u were in bed naked then id pull the quilt back and use the whip on your *** and see how u like it arnt u lucky shes not that harsh

That is to harsh mate, i am not against smacking as i think it is one of the things respond to these days, i was smacked and it taught me a lesson.

So put the whip away and try smacking. Another effective way is to take stuff off them they like, playstation, tv dvd etc

I think its too harsh to use a whip on a child. I would just recommend punishment the child, use a belt to on a child, take away their priviledge for week or so. Back in the old days, people were using distinct cord, etc to chasten their children.
