7/(2x+1) - (8x)/(2x-1)= -5
First: multiply both sides by (2x+1) to get rid of the fractions.
7(2x+1)/(2x+1) - (8x)(2x+1)/(2x-1)= -5(2x+1)
Simplify by cancelling out:
7 - 8x = -5 (2x+1)
Multiply -5 (2x+1):
7 - 8x = -10x - 5
Get the x factors and the number factors on opposite sides:
12 = -2x
Simplify/Solve for x:
x = -6
Check:
7/(2(-6)+1) - (8(-6))/(2(-6)-1)= -5
7/(-11) - (-48)/(-11) = -5
7 - (-48) = 55
7+48 = 55
Answer is correct:
x = -6

ok; a million) crew the numbers ( the momumials ? i forgot the call or changed into it polynomials?) so it turns into 8x - 13 = 7 - 2x 2: move the numbers with x ( sorry for undesirable element) so it turns into 10x - 13 = 7 (8x + 2x) ( do not forget that the operation flips round even as move by the equation signal. += - / = * 3) then move the 13 to the different part 10x = 20 ( 13 + 7) 4) then remedy the equation 20/10 = 2 x= 2( the negatives cancell out)

Based on Anacrid's solution I got X=-1
And I looked at BRob's solution but I think there is a mistake there. Double Check!

i am having a hard time figuring out what x is equal to. i've only gotten up to a possibility of x being equal to 6, and that is only -3.8something or other.
