Masturbation is good for you, it is one of the most basic of human acts not just as a form of [safe] sex but also as a relaxant as it is shown even babies within the womb touch their genitals as a way to calm themselves – children do this too, children in fact masturbate, as like adults they are sexual beings, it is just not until they hit puberty that it becomes a big deal and looses it's stigma that parents give it (i.e. parents telling children not to touch 'down there' as it is 'rude' without explaining it is normal and should be done in privet).
For girls and women specifically it helps not just relieve stress and providing a form of safe sex but self masturbation is also important because it teaches girls about their bodies and what they enjoy during sex – socially we are only taught about sex the way a man's body enjoys sex, or in other words penis to vagina penetration, when in fact only around 30% of women orgasm from sex this way, most women orgasm from other forms of sex such as masturbation and oral sex, as this way there is more stimulation of the clitoris, labia, vagina and g-spot where as with penetration it is normally just the vagina and sometimes the g-spot stimulated.
For girls and women specifically it also has health benefits in terms of menstrual health as masturbation increases blood flow to the vagina, it also results in muscles within the vagina and uterus contracting and relaxing that can help 'call down' menses – in other words it can help induce menstruation. Masturbation also helps ease menstrual cramps by relaxing the vagina and uterus, as well as assisting in pushing out menstrual material. Masturbation can also be used to assist in inducing miscarriage (if pregnant in early stages and already using methods to purposefully cause miscarriage/abortion) by relaxing the uterus making it easier for the body to reject the pregnancy – this is similar to when it is used as a means of inducing menstruation.
It is a good form of sex because of the way in which it allows you to experiment what turns you on and what arouses you sexually, as such it is a good way of expressing your sexuality and getting in touch with your own body, expressing yourself sexually to come to terms with your own sexual needs and wants without having to take another persons needs and wants into account as you would during sex. Of course masturbation is not just sex with yourself, it essentially means sexual gratification with hands or objects, whether with yourself or towards someone else, so within sex with a partner it is simply another form of sex and gives you more versatility as to what you can do in bed.
