Maybe it's not the hard disk .. it might be a conflict ... what error message do you get ? and why do you think it's the hard disk ?
Is it a page.sys problem ? by the way .. you can contact me through Yahoo messenger

Unfortunately, almost everything you do with your computer requires you to use your hard drive. If it is a problem with the actual hard drive, then there isn't much you can do but buy a new one and try to back up your old stuff before you lose your data. If it is a problem with the software that runs windows/OSX/Redhat/whatever losing its integrity, then a reformat of the drive will most likely result in the hard drive working again. This will also erase your data, so make sure you back up your stuff for this as well!

If you're hard drive is about to die, the very FIRST thing you need to do is make sure all critical data is backed up. If you have any documents, photographs, etc., on there that you don't want to lose, burn them to CD RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! Then, you can diagnose your hard drive.

BTW, hard drives are relatively cheap and very easy to replace by yourself on most computers. Sshhhh... don't tell anyone I'm giving away geek secrets.

just back up important things you want to save, and have it formated, that way you can give your pc a clean start, and once you format the hardrive if it gives you other errors, the tech can perform trouble shooting on the process of elimination with internal components to see what part
is really causing the problem, you will then know if it is really your hardrive or something else, that way if there is some bad parts you know what you need to buy. i always fix pc's this way its easy and fast.
if you need a new PC you can salvage some of the old parts and put them on the new that way you can save money. and recycle!

If the hard drive's on the way out then literally any action on your machine could cause it to die completely, there's no hard or fast rules here. Back up your files now before you lose them, it could happen any second.

Go out and get yourself a new hard drive and transfer all your important data to it, then, do whatever you want to with the old one..
