It is also beginning to grow something that looks like moss, the water drips outside, but not very much does...and it is making an ugly squeeking noise.

Angle it slightly so that the water drains out onto the street.

The pan under the coil on the out side is suppose to hold water, don,t poke a hole in it. The water drains from under the inside coil to the pan under the back coil. The out side fan blade has a slinger ring attached to the blade. The slinger picks up the water and through's it into the outside coil to help cool the coil, this increases the air conditioners efficiency by 10%.

To clean it, take it out of the window, (if it is a large one the insides will slide out), take it outside, If it is a smaller one remove the cover. Wrap a plastic bag around the motor and flush it out with a hose, be sure to look at the coil behind the fan blade to make sure the coil is clean and the drain from the front to back coil is open. Unwrap the fan motor and oil it, the noise may becoming from the motor. Put it back together and try it.

The drain outlet is stopped up with that "moss" which is actually an algae. The noise is coming from the fan most likely due to the water build-up. Find the drain outlet and get it unstopped, or it will mess up the internal components.
Generally you will need to disconnect the line at the drain pan , blow through it to clear it out, then reconnect it.

need to take the drain line off the pan and flush it out with the water hose out side it will be nasty and after just put a cup bleach in the pan every week and it will keep it clean. I don't know about the squeaking needs someone to look at it or try to pinpoint it and use some WD 40

The AC unit has to be tilted back so the water drains to the outside. Also make sure the drain holes are not plugged by debris, moss, etc.

empty it, clean it and ck to see what is clogged or if the drain line is missing. It was on the news that ppl are stealing copper from AC units on the outside of homes because copper has gone up in price. You line probably wouldn't be copper but I just thought to add that. Anything can go wrong with ac.

the tray should have a drip line to remove any standing water, it might be clogged. I would try to clean it out.

It isnt tilted enough to let the water escape. Tilt it toward the ground more.
