As a temporary, yes. No problems, with Kelly or Manpower.
I have had bad experiences with employment agencies while seeking permanent employment,
such as their sending me after jobs that anybody could get by walking in off the street.
They charge outrageous fees. The people I have dealt with were less than honest about other things.
You would do better by just watching the help wanted ads.

Yes, I have a few times. I worked for 3 months at one of the temporary jobs and made good money and even overtime but after the 3 month probationary period they said we were not a good match and the job was over. That did not cost me and I made money for the 3 months and had insurance too. I guess I would check with the agency and see what they are offering and if it cost to use their services.

I have been working for temp agencies whenever I was between REAL jobs for years. It is a great way to gain experience. Each job you get sent on will teach you something else that you can add to your resume. If I were you, I would learn to type. That will get you sent on basic office type jobs, after you start working, make sure to learn as much software like MSWord, Excel etc that you can while on the job.

I used one a few years ago and had no luck. When I finally got a job it was a result of my own efforts out just checking at any business I thought would be fun to work at. Good luck on job hunting!!

I've used many. most were horrible. did get jobs but nothing really worth while. they will place you in very high turnover positions like grunt workers, call centers, telemarkters etc. you know, the jobs no one else wants to do. If you're in a pinch for some work then it's worthwhile. if you're looking for something to do, career wise, don't even bother.

Yeah, they wanted to give me a manual labor job though I'm qualified for clerical or more and would be eaten alive or killed by the machines.... Oh, and it was almost a hundred miles away.

Worked for Manpower for about a year, and it was not the greatest, was hard for them to get work for me.. Clerical/Admin work is hard for an old bald white guy to be accepted in..
Also worked day labor, and, though I have a degree, was working Janitorial work.. ah well, could have been worse.
