I wouldn't trade Hasselbeck for Brady right now because of the current situation going on. Here's my reason why:
1) Brady already hit his mark with his first 4,000+ yard season and it's not likely going to happen again. Deion Branch, NE best receiver, is currently on a holdout and we don't know if and when he'll settle with the team (it could last as long as Week 6 to Week 10). David Givens bolt NE with good money from Tennessee. The only good option right now in the offense is Ben Watson and Troy Brown (and Brown is suppose to be on the special team to start the season as a punt and kick returner), which kinda scares me away from Brady for now. The running game might make a comeback with Dillon being healthy and rookie Laurence Malroney being in an integeral part of the offense, but the loss of offensive coordinator Charlie Weis (who entering his second season as Notre Dame head coach) has NE offense still reeling, even with Bill Bellichiek running the offense while being the head coach, so I stay away from Brady now.
2) Hasselbeck has the benefit from the reigning MVP, Shaun Alexander, to rely on, so Hasselbeck should pass freely w/o any worries. Add to the fact that he has two capable receivers in Darell Jackson and Nate Buerlson, along with the top offensive line in the NFL makes Hasselback a safe play at QB each week.
3) The trading value is not good for Hasselbeck, despite all he has in the offense, because top underrated QB like Hasselbeck is not drawing intrest among owners unless a RB is thrown in the deal, in which would be an unwise move to give up something for nothing, so I hold to Hasselbeck for now, unless a blockbuster offer is giving to you, in which you are on your own.

what's wrong with Hassleback? I'd rather have Brady (I rank him #2) than H-Back (I rank #5), so I don't know why the Brady owner would accept that deal. If you can do it straight up, then go for it. But I wouldn't want to give up anything extra because the difference between them won't be that great at all.

I think Brady will have a better year for passing TD's and passing yards. Shaun Alexander will take away TD's from Haselbeck. Both are good starting quarterbacks though.

Brady is many rungs up the fantasy ladder from Hasselbeck. Make the trade if you can still do it.

if you can, do it. plummer is okay but not great. brady has been Mr. Consistency for the past several years and rightly so. hasselback has been kind of up and down too.
