It is a Scout song, I think; my grandson is named Jack Henry & we have been singing a version of it to him; he is a preemie, & someone told us it is an actual song; we had just made up the words, so would like to know what the words really are. Thanks!

Yes it is a real song... I learned it in Elementary School. It goes John Jacob Jingle Hymer Schmidt his name is my name to, when ever we go out to play the children always shout and say John Jacob Jingle Hymer Schmidt Tra La la la la la la! Hope this Helps this is the way we were taught!
