You didn't provide enough information.

First you need to know the dimensions of the room.
Next you need to know the dimensions of the carpet,
Next you need to know if you want one continuous piece of carpet or if you could cut bits and pieces to fill the gap
Next you need to know the cost of the carpet per yard.

Find the area of the room's floor, and then multiply that by the cost per square yard of carpet.

So if your room is 10 yards by 1 yard, then you have an area of 10*1 = 10 square yards.
And if carpeting costs $2/square yard, then your cost is (10 square yards)*($2/square yard) = $20.

Good luck!

Find how uch carpet is needed in the room. Then find a carpet cost...which should be given to you. And multply that by the number of square yards (but only if the cost is in square yards).

If the cost is per yard, square it. Then it'll be by squared yards.

Cost of carpet per yard will = X
Length and Width of room = L and W

Cost = L x W x X

That is assuming the room is pretty much square or rectangle and doesn't have too many obsticles (fire places, ect..)

multiply # of feet down by # of feet across. That's square feet. total. Then choose you retailer and carpet. The store will tell you how much per square foot of carpet. Multiply that by total square feet. Then you have to add installation costs and price per sqare foot of padding, which is different from the carpet. Price of padding based on thickness and quality.
