I just got an 88 chevy celebrity about 3 months ago. Engine is good, Transmission is good. New Brakes... no problems.. I want to take a 2 hour drive to see my mother.. so that also means a 2 hour drive back.. I don't have AAA. Should I go for it?

Well, I drove a 59 Mercedes for over 30 years, often taking it on long trips and never had any problems and it had approximately 350,000 miles on it when I sold it last year. I suspect you will be fine, and even if it does have a problem, it is not a terribly difficult car on which to perform repairs.
The only reason to own a car, at least to me, is to be able to drive it.

Have a mechanic or friend with good skills in that department check it out, and then go. Check into AAA though. It's a reasonable price for peace of mind.

i would. i had a 21-yr-old car with no AAA in my pockets and i still drove 8 hours to another state. of course, it depends on the person. and it might help to have a cell in case anything does happen.

You should. I drove for 2 hours from San Jose to Stockton in my old van and it was fine. Check your engines and fuels before you go.

yes if its a trip for a good reason in this case to go see your mother nothin wrong will happen, infact great things will happen.

CHECK ALL FLUID LEVELS, TAKE EXTRA FLUIDS WITH YOU I.E. TRANNY FLUID,OIL, WATER, ETC. RESEARCH SHOPS FOR THE AREA YOU ARE GOING TO IN CASE OF PROBLEMS UNFORSEEN, HAVE YOUR BELTS CHECKED, YOU SHOULD BE FINE! DRIVE MODERATELY, BE SAFE!
