mpeg4 or mp4 is a digital video/audio format, while mpeg3 or mp3 is just the audio format.

You are getting confused with i-tunes and napster formats.
Because i-tune or has it use to be called quick time was a movie format where you played back movies on your computer with quick time but now they have moved into the music.
