Yes. It's a sin. In fact, St. Thomas Aquinas believes that masturbation is a worse sin than rape.

hmmmm....masturbating has nothing to do with being a virgin. If you were to do it, you would still be a virgin, because you are not have intercourse with a man. However, if you are a strong christian, then you know that lust is considered a sin by the Holy Spirit. And technincally, by masturbating, most people are thinking about a guy (or girl) that they want to be touching them. Almost like a fantasy being played out...you imagine what it would be if they were the ones touching you instead of yourself. Therefore, you are lusting after someone who isn't rightfully yours...you are not married to that person, and its wrong to think of them in a sexual way untill you are so. Easier said then done, I know, but thats what Jesus tought.
If you are one of the few that don't think about anyone in particular if you were to do so, then you are still considered lusting - and maybe I can try to explain how, though its a little confusing. When you are touching yourself, aiming for an orgasam or any other type of sexual pleasure, you are doing something that you shouldn't be doing...its something your wife/husband should be doing instead. Therefore, you are commiting a sin by lusting after yourself, and trying to self-gratify. I know it's kinda weird, and hard to understand (I still have problems trying to figure out how that is sometimes), but it's the truth.
So, to answer your question in just one sentance, if you were to masturbate, you would still be a virgin...however, you would be lusting...and commiting a sin.
Besides, wouldn't it be awesome if your husband/wife were to be the first one to touch you in an intimate way? The first ones to please you? You would always remember your first orgasam as one given within marriage...on your wedding night...and everytime you have sex afterwards, you will always remember your first orgasam as your husband/wifes gift to you.
Just thought that might help.
;-)
BTW, I admire your faith in Christ. It's really nice knowing that I'm not the only one who feels the way you do...

I must tell you it is refreshing to hear young people speak the way you do, "I want to remain a virgin till marriage." I sincerely hope you keep that promise to God. I personally do not believe in masturbation and I'm being blunt here when I say, "that is why God made men," to do that job for us (women). So whenever you feel aroused do not dwell on it, it's called will power and if you are strong enough to stay a virgin you are strong enough to not masturbate.

Well, in some religions it is, I will admit. But if everybody that masturbated went to hell, there would be very little people in heaven. A lot of people do it. I think it's better then having sex, getting pregnant, then having an abortion. I think that's a worse sin then masturbating. Good luck figuring it out.

That is up to you to decide. If you feel it is a sin, then yes it is. I have a male friend in his 40's and still feels that it is a sin. I think that masturbation is okay though. It is up to you to make that decision on your own. I applaud you for waiting until you are married. I think that is great.

interpret the bible as you want. Some think the bible tells us that sex and masturbation are evil, other think it is telling us something about hygene, not penence. If you are a strong cristian don't masturbate, don't be dirty. I would never masterbate, or have sex before marriage. It just sounds pretty painful if you are the girl, which I am.

Being a truly religious person should not mean that you are afraid, but that you believe, trust and respect. I have a uncle that is a Christian Pastor, he tried to make me see that my believes were wrong, but even with all his knowledge of the Bible he could never truly prove me wrong.
Perhaps, when there doesn’t seem to be an answer to your question you should turn to your own believes, to your ethic and your faith.
Does it seem right to you?

Um.. I dont think that masturbating is a sin. Its not like you are engaging in the sexually intercourse. All you're doing is pleasuring yourself. So I dont think its a sin.

I wish I could say no, but yes it is a sin....contrary to what many people would say. God made Man and then he made woman for man....We are not supposed to mutluate our bodies. That is a form of pervertion .
