A philosopher could also be a scientist, but in general, philosophy is considered a humanity. At a stretch, you could say it is a social science. However, I would not consider a philosopher to be a scientist.

One definition of philosophy is:
noun: the rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics

One definition of science is:
a systematically organized body of knowledge about a particular subject

I would say yes. Reason being, a given philosophy is much like unto a given formula.
