Very easy. :)
Do you remember in math how when you have a two fractions that are equal, you cross multiply? Well, go ahead and do that sooo:
(5x-4)3 = (5x+4)2
15x -12 = 10x +8
5x = 20
x = ?? you can get the answer yourself now, right? ;)

Ok...multiply 5x-4 times 3. That equals 15x-12. Then multiply 5x=4 times 2. That equals 10x+8. So now, you have 15x-12=10x +8. Now you want to get the x's on one side and the numbers on the other. Subtract 10x from both sides. Now you have 5x-12=8. Then add 12 to both sides. This gives you 5x=20. Now divide both sides by 5. The result is x=4

2(9x - 2) - 2 = 3(4 + 5x) 2*9x - 2*2 - 2 = 3*4 + 3*5x 18x - 4 - 2 = 12 + 15x 18x - 6 = 12 + 15x 18x - 15x - 6 = 12 + 15x - 15x 3x - 6 + 6 = 12 + 0 + 6 3x - 0 = 18 3x / 3 = 18 / 3 x = 6

mulitply both sides by 3. you get 3(5x - 4)/ (5x +4) then multiply both sides by (5x+4) you get 3(5x - 4) = 2(5x +4) then distribute (3 X 5x) + ( 3 X -4) = (2 X 5x) + (2 X 4) you get 15x - 12 = 10x + 8 subtract 10x from both sides 15x - 12 - 10 x = 10x + 8 - 10x you get 5x - 12 = 8 add twelve to both sides 5x - 12 + 12 = 8 + 12 you get 5x = 20 divide both sides by 5 5x/5 = 20/5 X = 4 :)

ok.. (5x - 4) / (5x + 4) = 2/3
3(5x - 4) = 2(5x + 4)
15x - 12 = 10x + 8
5x - 12 = 8
5x =20
x=4

because the eqations are in parentheses you treat them like a number or x so you can bring the whole thing to the other side,
so, multiply both sides by (5x+4):
(5x-4) = 2*(5x+4) /3
then multiply both sides by 3 so you dont have any more fractions :
3*(5x-4) = 2*(5x+4)
distribute:
15x-12 = 10x =8
add 12 to both sides:
15x = 10x+20
subtract 10x from both sides:
5x = 20
then:
x=4
that's your answer.

i think that "x" is a variable not a multiplication .
so:
(5x-4)*3=(5x+4)*2
15x-12=10x+8
15x-10x=8+12
5x=20
x=20/5=4

5x-4=-20
5x4=20
So negative 20 divided by 20 is negative 1
1 doesn't equal 2/3
