Every therapist is different, some recent grads are great and some experienced people not so great. Your only real option is to try someone and see if their massage and your needs are a fit. If not, try someone else. No one therapist is a 'good therapist' for everyone. I work as a massage therapist, and have heard the greatest compliments: "Best I ever had""amazing""incredible",etc. I have also been told it was the worst they ever had, should have been this way, etc. Most of these 'bad' massages were preventable thru communication, but sometimes you are a poor energetic fit. Ever have someone that you felt uncomfortable just being around?

So just try lots of people/techniques till you find a fit! Expensive, but worth it.

Try checking in with your local Massage Therapy school, if you have one. They can usually steer you towards recent grads. Sometimes they will let you come in so the students can have practical experience.

Ask your doctor. His office probably has a list of massage therapists in the area. He also know which ones your insurance will cover.
