Bats are flying, placental mammals. They have live born offspring, and they have hair.
Birds are not mammals, they do not have "hair", their offspring are hatched from eggs that develop outside of the mother.

Bats are mammals. But they are not birds, not rodents, not mice. They are in their own order (which means they are different from any other mammal). They're in the order Chiroptera, which means "hand wing." The name comes from the structure of a bat's wing. It's actually similar to a person's hand. The top of the wing is like our wrist, and fingers hold out the wing membrane. Bats are the second most numerous species of mammal on earth, second only behind rodents. There are 1,100 species on bats and they make up 20% of all mammal species. Bats are extremely beneficial animals. Many bats eat insects, and one single bat can eat 3,000 insects in a single night. One bat colony can eat over a billion bugs every single night. They really help farmers control pests and help people by eating bugs (like mosquitos) that can make people sick. If you would like to learn more about bats, visit Bat Conservation International at www.batcon.org.

Bat is not a bird...It mamal...There are several classes of creatures..There are Aves, Mamals, Coelenterates, Etc. The aves are the birds..They belong to this Class. The mamals are the cows, pig, cats, dogs, ect, All cratures that feed their young with their mamary glands. Even the human beings belong to this Class. Guess what..the bats feed their youngs with their mamary glands so they are mamals...Im not so sure about the term i used classes or kingdom bec there are kingdom first..Like animal kingdom where they are grouped according to their class...but one thing for sure bat is not a bird.
