In that situation, the government does not give a good example. In legal aspect the government officials and the citizens should have a similar and fair treatment if disobeying laws and regulations. If a citizen has a strong proof of the bad doing of the government official,he/she should file a written complain to police or prosecutor office nearest to your domicile. You can also file that complain to the head of that official.Laws and regulations should be enforced for all citizens including government officials.

Well, I guess it follows the do as I say not as I do rule. We can't live in lawlessness, it doesn't work, history has proven that. However, the government is certainly guilty of breaking their own laws, even rewriting them to appease their causes. No matter what party though, this WILL happen. Politics are corrupt, whether they mean well or not. We as citizens have to voice our opinion through our elected representatives. Vote for the person whom you believe to have the best character. There is not much more we can do. I know it's not enough, but it is better than anarchy until something better comes along.

The citizens should pressure their government to enforce the laws.

In the USA, the government is not enforcing immigration laws. I, for one, am doing all I can to pressure the government to obey and enforce the laws. I'm writing, emailing, phoning, and spreading the word.

Take back America...Enforce Immigration and Visa Laws.

I think a better question is, how to make the government obey it's own laws. We've tried lawlessness, and rejected it already. There's no reason to backtrack to something that already hasn't worked. What we should do is move forward in a way that benefits us.

Of course we should obey the laws; but at the same time we should get rid of our present administration, which is making a mockery of our Constitution.

The Laws weren't made for the Government.
The Laws were made to control the masses!
Whether this be Canada, U.S, or another Country!
