Here is what you need to do for a science fair prject like this:
1. Take seeds (all from the same packet).
2. Get paper towels, and fold them up on separate plastic plates (ones that you won't get into trouble for using).
3. Use one plate for each of your conditions (coffee, water, juice,... whatever plus one control).
4. Place one or two seeds on each plate in the middle of the paper towel - beans or sunflowers often sprout quickly, so you could try them.
5. Cover the seeds with more paper towel.
6. Label each of your plates with the condition that you are using with waterproof marker.
7. Add just enough of each of the liquids to the plates to get the paper towel damp (all the way damp). Leave the control one dry.
8. Place them somewhere where they will be cool and nobody will touch them.
9. Each day add more of the correct liquid. You can peek to see if anything is happening.
10. When some have sprouted, keep a record of which ones, and when you noticed (these will be your results).
11. If nothing happens in time, that is still a valid result. The process of doing the experiment is just as important as what you find out!
Good luck! and Have Fun!! Science fair is supposed to be fun.
