I had one of them motorway jackets at one time the only difference between that and a cops one was that it didn't have "police" on it anywhere. Even the reflective strips could've been confused with a cops jacket as they were identical except that the cops one has police in small letters in it and mine had my companies name in it. It even had the blue panel the old bill have in theirs.

To all intents and purposes it looked like a cops jacket but it was totally legal.

Assuming you have the jacket via legal means and have removed all police insignia then no its no illegal.

Make sure the buttons dont have the police insignia on them!

Since there is no "universal" policeman's jacket, it can't be made illegal to wear one. It is the identification that makes it a policeman't jacket, not any particular style.

In the UK so long as you do not try to act as a Policeman or pretend to be one, wearing an old tunic type jacket is fine.

If the jacket has been stolen, then yes. If not and all the markings have been removed, then there can't be a problem.

You can wear whatever you want, as long as you wear something. Even with all the insignia on it, it should be legal. Consult your local authorities about this.
