Ok I've just had another miscarriage (this is number 6). I have undergone infertility testing but they couldnt find anything wrong... just been told to keep trying. However I have never had a home test come back positive much before 10 weeks, I always miscarry before that point recently anyway. I asked my doc why home tests dont work but she said she doesnt know. I would assume I dont produce enough of the hormone home tests detect. Could this be a reason for miscarrying. I will ask my doc next time I see her, but that wont be until the end of this week so I thought I'd see if anyone here knows anything.

The infertility testing was done at a special reccurent miscarriage clinic at hospital (no t by my doctor)... it was extensive testing. And only about 50% of people who have reccurent miscarriages will find out a reson for it, I'm in the other 50% where there is no obvious reason and it just seems to be bad luck.
Thanks for all your responses though, I appreciate it.

I too went through exactly 6 miscarriages followed by 2 ectopic pregnancies. 10 years of asking and diagnosis and misdiagnosis. I can tell you what I found out and what resulted in 4 healthy children after.
As far as the home pregnancy tests go, they are sensitive to the Hcg level in a women who is carrying. Everyday that level of Hcg should double (in a healthy pregnancy). If you go get an Hcg level test from your physician you can repeat this test within 48 hours and they will know for sure if your pregnancy is viable. If that number does not double then the pregnancy will not make it full term.
Now for the great news. I went through fertility testing, in-vitro, Ivp tests, you name it I did it to no avail. I met a doctor who happened to be from China. She was a research specialist in infertility. She said that what they found through years of research, especially in the United States, is that women who have low folic acid in their bodies are 75% more likely to miscarry than someone who's folic acid level is at a moderate to moderately high level. I began taking folic acid tablets plus prenatal vitamins and 6 months later I was pregnant with our first child. She is healthy, happy and beautiful. I did it repeatedly at least 6 months BEFORE we began trying to get pregnant. Each time it was successful. I believe that this mild alteration in my bodies chemical makeup is what made the difference. You should always contact a physician before starting anything, I also got a full blood screen that showed my folic acid level was extremely low. Now I take folic acid on a regular basis and it has even helped with my energy level.
Good luck and I hope this gives you something to talk to your physician's about.
Oh and by the way, the weight of the child has absolutely NOTHING to do with losing a child.

A good friend of mine spontaneously aborted all her babies at about 12 weeks gestation. Like you, she and her husband went through some crazy @ss fertility testing and treatment. They FINALLY found out that both of them were fine separately, but there was something with her husband's semen that her body treated like a virus or bacterium, and the baby would grow to be only a certain age before her body aborted the baby. They finally ended up doing IVF (twice) and managed to carry the second baby to term.
I can't remember what she called this "condition" and it's incredibly rare, but you never know. It might not hurt to ask your doctor about it the next time you see him or her.

Number 6, Uh. First will this be you and your husbands or significant others first child? Why are you putting your body through this toxic torture. Give your body a chance to rest exercise eat a balanced diet stop drinking and smoking and your partner does the same. This will help build a better environment for fetal growth and development. Start a chart in a years time of your temperature and when your temperature is high (above 98.7) it may be a good time to start to mate.

I have no idea. I just wanted to express my condolences to you. Perhaps you have a lazy cervix?? I've heard of that before when a womans cervix needs stitched shut so the baby don't literally fall out. Best of luck to you sweetheart.

maybe your immune system is too good and your body is rejecting the foetus........is either of you rhesus negative as the could cause a problem in subsequent pregnancy's if the first one has a positive mother and a negative father,
