Well, you gotta figure out if your undertones are cool pink or warm pink. If you have cool undertones, you're gonna look really bad in warm colors, like you're seasick and about to throw up. Peach is *not* your friend, nor is coral, orange, or yellow. Of course, if your colors are warm, then those colors are good. In that case, cool colors make you look washed-out and ill.

Try this--if there's a makeup counter that has different "tones" on a display, see which looks better on you. Or hold up two tones--white and cream. You can go to a paint store if you want lots of color options, and the lighting there is usually better than at the drugstore. If white looks better against your skin, you're "cool" (meaning bluish undertones to your skin, maybe pinkish-blue or hot-pink.) If cream looks better, you're "warm" (orangey-reddish undertones, "peaches-and-cream", or golden undertones.) I'd say your skin is cool, but ask the paint store people about white vs. cream if you're not sure. Hey, they don't get the question very often--you'll break up their boring day. Hold up paint swatches and see which colors look good on you--it'll also help you pick clothing colors you might not have thought about. Neutral colors go with warm or cool (like blue or brown.)

Brown eyes--pink is good, plum also. A cool pink--bubblegum (in the package--it usually doesn't look that scary when you apply it) or "baby pink", not peachy pink. Try those Almay "enhances brown eyes" packs of eyeshadow--the colors are pretty nice. I also like the little tubes of Maybelline cream eyeshadow--Cooling Effects? I think that's the name. They stay put really well and the colors are fairly neutral--they work really well for me and they're goof-proof--just put a *little* teeny weeny dab on your finger and smooth it over your lid. Ta-da! Wipe off any weird smudges with a damp tissue or cotton ball.

I loooove colored lip gloss--unless your lips are crazy big like Angelina Jolie, gloss is a good way to go. The colors are subtle, but noticeable--try Lip Glass, Shine Pops, those Cover Girl lip gloss tubes, Colour Juice--most are good but watch out for stickiness. Neutrogena makes great lip gloss, and I also like those Wet Shine glosses (I'm a gloss junkie.) Try purple, red, or hot pink gloss--it looks awful in the tube, but it looks great when you put it on. Neutral lips are nice, too--try a champagne-colored glittery gloss, or a pinkish-brown.

Have fun, and make sure to buy your stuff from a store that has a no-questions-asked return policy on cosmetics (some actually do.) You might make some mistakes and you don't want to have to keep them.

Neutral colors work great on any skin tone, you know that. However, you are correct, they can get boring. Brunette haired ladies look great with green eyeshadows (very posh these days), and turquoise-blue - nearly aqua - colors. Purples and browns can fade you out, pinks can flush you out...but if you find the right shades of each of these colors and blend them with complimentary colors (ie: blue looks great with purple. Pink looks awesome with green. Brown looks wonderful with aqua.) then you can find the mixes that matches you and your personality.

I have some awesome ideas for colors if you want to discuss further. Contact me anytime! :)

Eyes – Light earth tones and soft pastels such as blue, lavender and pink always look great.
Cheeks – Pink and peach are perfect especially if you have blonde hair.
Lashes – Stick to brown or brown/black.
Lips – Light, sheer lippie in various shades of pink adds the finishing touch.

start with foundation/powder if you want to even out your skin. then use dark brown eyeliner on your lower lash line and also smudge it into your upper lash line (as in, don't just draw a straight line across, make short dashes into your eyelashes). a shimmery gold eye shadow would look greatttt with tan skin, brown hair, and brown eyes! sweep that all over your eyelid and also over your bottom lash line over your eyeliner. use a few coats of black mascara on top and bottom eyelashes and you're done! this look works year round. in the fall/winter, darken the eyeliner a little. in the spring/summer, lighten the eyeliner and mascara.
