Weather doesn't make much difference. An antenna properly aimed at the transmitter over a clear path (no buildings or mountains) is much more important. When a TV signal fades or has interference, the picture quality just degrades. A digital signal will lose whole frames or groups of frames. That's much more noticeable.

It sounds like your problem could be caused by reflected signals, it is much more pronounced if u have a week signal. There is also the E layer changes shape at near sunrise and sunset this changes the reflection. Happens to many signals when your signal is low.

Digital TV, radio whatever is Satellite and waved based and just because we see clear skies does not mean there is not bad weather or other interference somewhere between the signal and your receiver.

I beleive its to do with what is called the skip.Digital signals are affected by the weather in fact sometimes lots of white lines appear on the TV signifying rain is imminent.
Thats all I know and must be owing to the frequencies used.cheers

It could be that your aerial is not aligned properly with the transmitter - that would make it much more susceptible to atmospheric variations.
