At first you'll be super tired from the flight, so everything will be so overwhelming. Then, everything will be brought on you all at once and you can't keep up, and afterwards everyone will expect you to remember everything that was said to you. Then you'll finally wake up and realize how amazing of a place you are in and how lucky you are to be there. A little while later, you'll realize you're not home anymore and get super homesick. That won't last very long, and then you'll love the place you're in and don't mind not being away. When it's time to go home, you won't want to leave. When you arrive home, you'll realize you just got back from the best experience of your life.

Well, it all depends on your perspective. I lived overseas for years and if you are there to learn and experience a new culture and can keep an open mind the sky is the limit! However, if you go and immediately start finding fault with the food, the people, the way things are done differently you will have a bad and very miserable experience. You will find that things you always took for granted become much more meaningful. You will come to learn a lot about yourself and find out what you're made of. You will also learn that the rest of the world views things differently than you do. You will hopefully make some lifelong friends and some memories that you will always hold dear even into old age. Take some time to observe and learn about the culture. Also, try to keep your head on straight, because the laws and social norms can be very different in another country so take care to learn about them.

I studied abroad for 1 year. It was one of the best times of my life. Some times will be difficult; homesickness and such. With the internet you can contact family quickly and economically.
Go for it! You will love it and learn so much. You can not learn in a classroom what you will experience in doing this.
I did not experience any hardships or problems that would be any different than living at home.

Yup, mostly opportunitier and just a few hardships, just try to make the best of it, meet interesting people and try new things, you won't regret it.
